The Short Play Festival was performed in the Drum Theatre from the 17 - 20 February 2010 in the Drum
Theatre.
Producer's Notes:
The Short Play Festival was conceived as a way of bridging the gap for People's
and Young Company members between weekly workshops at TR2 and the large scale
productions with full set and costumes which happen twice a year.
It has also enabled us to offer local directors, some emerging, some established
but wanting more experience working with community groups, a chance to direct
a play on the Drum stage. Our directors were Jessica Dalton-Leggett, Matt Hall,
Elaine Ruth White, Rebecca Huggins, Nicola Duff and Lucy Gordon-Clark.
We chose our theme, the Socrates quote, when the country was in the depths of
recession. It remains appropriate today, when the financial state of the nation
still seems to hang in the balance. We've been out to prove that whatever happens,
the arts can and will thrive.
