We are looking for a unique, individual actor to play Naomi in the darkly funny, life affirming monologue A Play for Living in the Time of Extinction by Miranda Rose Hall as part of a bold new experiment in eco theatre making.
The show will take place in six different theatres across the UK presented by Headlong Theatre in an innovative and ecological touring experiment. The theatres are; The Barbican (London) The Belgrade (Coventry), Shakespeare North Playhouse (Prescot), New Vic Theatre (Stoke), Theatre Royal Plymouth (Plymouth) and York Theatre Royal (York).
This daring zero-travel tour will begin at The Barbican (London) where Lydia West will play Naomi directed by Katie Mitchell before launching the innovative touring model, the first of its kind in the UK, which sees a play tour, while the people and materials do not. In each city a blueprint of the show will be uniquely brought to life by local teams and we are searching for five different actors to star in each iteration of this urgent production.
We are looking for an exceptional actor local to each theatre to play Naomi at Theatre Royal Plymouth. She is a dramaturg deeply concerned with our ecological breakdown. The piece takes the audience on a life-changing journey to confront the urgent ecological disaster that is unfolding around us. Due to the ecological nature and innovative model of this tour [https://www.headlong.co.uk/productions/a-play-for-the-living] each actor must be based no more than an hour away from the theatre.
In Plymouth, Kay Michael directs A Play For Living in the Time for Extinction for Theatre Royal Plymouth.
