Location: The Lab, TRP

Cost: £65 (10-week term)

This term, the 18-25s will be looking at expanding our performance skills through the practice of John Wright – a theatre maker who places a strong emphasis on playfulness to make scenes and productions as ‘live’ and authentic as possible – it is all about not taking yourself too seriously. There will be lots of games, but crucially, these games will be directly related to the scene/performance task that we tackle each week. A great place to start for beginners, and also an essential methodology to understand for any actors in training.

Something from nothing

A term exploring devising techniques and working from stimuli

Join theatre director Nicole Redfern to explore how to make theatre from nothing! (well, very nearly nothing).

Over the course of the term, we will explore how different elements and stimuli can be used to inspire creative ideas.

We’ll work with various kinds of stimuli: light, sound, pictures, words, objects, movement and the environment, learning how to build and blend our ideas, in order to turn them into compelling moments of performance.

Everyone is welcome, and no experience is required!

Nicole is a professional theatre director, arts practitioner and community producer. You might know her from last summer’s epic production The Hatchling, or have seen shows she has made with the Narwhal Ensemble and Above Bounds.
