We are celebrating our work with children, young people and community groups this July, with a series of events on The Lyric stage, to mark our 40th year
The TRP Community Celebration Week will run from Tuesday 5 – Saturday 9 July. Across the week The Lyric will be filled with young people and community groups performing end of year pieces, as well as the much-celebrated Playhouse Festival, featuring local primary schools, and a night celebrating one of our longest running programmes, Our Space. Tickets will be free for all events, except Playhouse on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 July.
The celebration week will run as follows:
Tuesday 5 July at 4pm
TRP’s adult community groups share their work from the Summer Term to celebrate TRP’s 40th year. It will feature our People’s Company, PC Voices, Eldertree and our Funky Llama groups.
Each year the Theatre Royal Plymouth hold a Playhouse Festival which provides primary schools across Plymouth the opportunity to perform at Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Saturday 2 July at 5:30pm & Saturday 2 July at 7pm
Join us in The Lab to see our Young Company perform Cross Words as part of our Playhouse Festival.
Thursday 7 July at 5pm & Friday 8 July at 5pm
The Thursday evening performance will see Blackawton Primary School take to the stage with Big Small Lost Found Things by Miriam Battye, followed by Boringdon Primary School taking to the stage with Wake Up by Jenna Drury.
On Friday evening, our Playhouse Festival continues with Sir Robert Geffery’s performing Wake Up by Jenna Drury, followed by Prince Rock Primary School performing Dreaming by Day by Tanika Gupta.
Playhouse is a national partnership project between Theatre Royal Plymouth, The Rep (Birmingham), York Theatre Royal, Theatre Iolo, Polka Theatre & Bristol Old Vic.
An Evening with Our Space

Join Our Space for an evening in The Lyric.
Artists from across the Our Space programme will be presenting a variety of creative sharings.

Young Company Sharing
Saturday 9 July at 11am
The Young Company 5-11 year olds share their work from the Summer Term, celebrating TRP’s 40 Birthday. Featuring YC Acting 5-7, YC Acting 8-11, YC Dance 8-12, Dare to Dazzle, an extract from the YC Playhouse show, Cross Words.
Young Company Hubs Sharing
Saturday 9 July at 3pm
Young Company groups from across the city take over the Lyric to share their work celebrating TRP’s 40th Birthday. Featuring Young Company groups from All Saints Academy Plymouth, Marine Academy Plymouth, Torbridge High, Lipson Academy and Saltash.net.
Young Company Sharing
Saturday 9 July at 6pm
The Young Company 11-25 year olds share their work. Featuring YC Acting 11-13, YC Acting 13-15, YC Acting 15-18, YC Acting 18-25, YC Create and YC Airborne.
