Alice Birch’s provocative play written in 2019 was inspired by Theatre Company Clean Break’s work which told the hidden stories of women affected by the criminal justice system. The play consists of 100 unrelated scenes for the director to select from and create their own innovative and unique production.

Performed by the Stage 3 Actors from BA (Hons) Acting Degree at the University of Plymouth, this production threads together the fragments of a number of characters’ lives who share a deep sense of loss and the absence of a maternal figure.
