A new play written and directed by Jon Welch
Selection is a fantasy set in late 1960s Oxford, a place of stark iniquity, where a group of the most privileged students and their social polar opposites share a similar goal – escape. The reason: a German victory at the end of the 2nd World War. In this world, Britain is a run-down, depleted puppet state, where life chances lie abroad, and forced labour is the norm. A place where the ordinary needs of young people for love, fun, hope, a future, get swallowed under the wheels of history, forcing them into moral dilemmas they are ill-equipped to solve.
