Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is opening its doors wider than ever this weekend with Stories Without Borders; a lively, inclusive free event marking Refugee Week and celebrating the diversity and richness of the city’s communities.
Taking place at the theatre on Sunday 21 June, Stories Without Borders will transform TRP’s foyer into a welcoming hub of creativity and connection, inviting visitors to come together to share stories, explore cultures and celebrate Plymouth’s unique identity.
Running from midday to 5pm, the free, drop-in event will feature an exciting programme of live music, workshops, visual art, creative writing and performance with no booking required. The café and bar will be serving food and drink alongside local food vendors.
The event reflects TRP’s ongoing work to create spaces where migrant and sanctuary-seeking communities feel safe, represented and connected.
In addition, on Saturday 20 June, TRP will host a dedicated programme of activities and workshops for invited community groups in its more intimate auditorium, The Drum, further strengthening connections with local organisations and participants.
Kadus Smith, TRP Director of Public Engagement, said: “Stories Without Borders is an invitation to the local community to come together and celebrate the many cultures, voices and experiences that make Plymouth such a vibrant city. At Theatre Royal Plymouth, we believe everyone should feel welcome and represented, and this event is about creating a space to come together and do just that.”
