Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is thrilled to announce that two of its co-productions, The Artist and The Devil Wears Prada, have received an impressive ten nominations collectively for the prestigious WhatsOnStage Awards.
The WhatsOnStage Awards, unique for being entirely audience-voted, celebrate the very best of UK theatre, underscoring the incredible impact these productions have made on audiences and critics alike.
The Artist, a visually stunning adaptation of the Oscar-winning silent film, co-produced with The McOnie Company, starred Briana Craig, Robbie Fairchild and Gary Wilmot and premiered in Plymouth in May. Nominations are:
- Best Regional Production
- Best Direction – Drew McOnie
- Best Choreography – Drew McOnie
- Best Lighting Design – Zoe Spurr
- Best Video Design – Ash J Woodward
- Best Wigs, Hair and Make-Up – Georgia Nosal
Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada, the dazzling stage adaptation of the beloved book and film, which was produced with Kevin McCollum, Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish and Jamie Wilson, premiered at TRP throughout the summer and is now wowing audiences in the West End. This production has earned the following nominations:
- Best New Musical
- Best Performer in a Musical – Vanessa Williams
- Best Supporting Performer in a Musical – Amy Di Bartolomeo
- Best Wigs, Hair and Make Up – Campbell Young Associates

Voting for the WhatsOnStage Awards is open now until 9 January, and the winners will be crowned at the special concert ceremony on Sunday 9 February 2025, at The London Palladium.
