Trifle Gathering’s Rant Club workshop offers participants a chance to let off steam through connectivity, laughter and camaraderie. Come sign up to Rant Club and explore the one thing that can give us a sense of relief and hope: a good daily dose of ranting!

Otto and The Mutapa Calling
Otto and The Mutapa Calling is a colourful celebration of southern African music and culture.
The London-based marimba band plays energetic, joyful music from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana, covering traditional folk songs, popular southern African covers, and original songs. The band’s set-up includes soprano, tenor and baritone marimbas, with drumming and singing and a splash of both traditional and contemporary dances.
The marimba band’s sound is full of energy and pulsating rhythms – and the band’s music shares the rich cultures, histories and stories of the people of southern Africa. Formed in 2017, the marimba band is led by Otto Gumaelius who started playing African music on the marimba in the late 1990s in Botswana. The band is currently comprised of musicians from Botswana, Zimbabwe, and the UK, and is the only active professional southern African marimba band of its kind in the UK.

Red Herring Silent Disco
Come Boogie! Get your headset on, learn, and follow our steps or find your own rhythm.
The Funky Chicken, the Hitchhiker – all the classic moves are there and we link them together into some very cool classic disco routines – to the delight of those taking part and all the others watching – the Silent Disco dancers become the spectacle themselves.
It’s a simple joyous engaging winner of a format. And remember – only those with the headsets on can hear the instructions – who knows what mischief a gaggle of disco dancers can get up to or where they might go as the audiences watches them… Highly experienced outdoor performers, Red Herring create playful work that blurs the boundaries between performer and audience.
In town or in landscape, we ask you to experience familiar things in unfamiliar ways – including yourselves.

Jelly Jazz
Pete Isaac is best known as the DJ promoter behind the seminal South West club-night Jelly Jazz since January 1993. In its early days during the height of the southwest’s rave culture, Jelly Jazz started out to provide a weekly diet of soul, funk, latin, hip hop and break-beat all with a jazz twist to them. The blend worked and the unpretentious, ‘sweat dripping off the walls’, ‘dance till you drop’ attitude and atmosphere driven relentlessly by the musical passion of resident DJ’s Pete Isaac and Griff soon became a major force in South West club-culture.
Fairly soon, Jelly Jazz developed an international reputation and was attracting the likes of Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Mr. Scruff, Quantic, Patrick Forge, Chris Goss, Andy Smith, Russ Dewbury, Rainer Truby, Jazzanova, and DJ Format as guest DJs.
