Summer in the Scene Dock

Welcome to Summer in the Scene Dock!

Join us for an unmissable programme of outdoor events at Theatre Royal Plymouth this August.

We’re transforming our Scene Dock* into a welcoming hub of entertainment and community. Expect bands, quiz nights, DJ sets, theatre, cabaret, workshops, roaming performers and more.

Plus, enjoy a selection of food from local vendors and drinks from our pop-up bar.

All events are family friendly but check out the individual activities for more details at the bottom of this page.

*The Scene Dock is the outside space at the rear of the theatre where trucks unload sets, costumes, props and other scenery (Scene, as in scenery and Dock, as in where the trucks dock to unload).

The Dock is open throughout the day for you to pop in and enjoy food, drinks and games, whenever you’d like!

Farewell Jamaica

This wonderful new play celebrates the contribution the Windrush community made in rebuilding the country. Invited here after the Second World War with the promise of what seemed like a prosperous opportunity to contribute and play their part in the recovery of the nation, many were met with opposition and discrimination.

This family-friendly educational play raises many thought-provoking issues surrounding immigration and celebrates the grit and determination that generation showed to make their way and become part of the UK’s rich and diverse heritage.

“Reliance in the face of adversary Determination in the face of discrimination”.

Content Warning: Discrimination and racism will be discussed during the play.

Mik Artistik

Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip

Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip are genuinely a delightful, funny, frightening, and indefinable band. Northern rock and roll stand-up comes close.

Every show is unique as Mik finds a new train of thought to ride. He connects, chats, breaks the wall between audience and band, creates chaos, plays air-crook lock (!?), all complimented by exquisite layers of rock, soul, funk, and punk created by Jonny Flockton on electric guitar, drum machine, and one of a number of well-heeled bass players.

“… a live show like no other – magnificent” (Gideon Coe).
