Beyond Face presents an evening showcasing two brand new works in development from Beyond Face Associate Artists Lau Batty and Rozelle Gemma.
Over the course of this year, Lau and Roz have been developing brand new pieces of work for the stage, creating a new part of their show and performing it at each of our We are scratch nights in Southampton, Bristol and Ilfracombe.
This We are Here to Share event is the culmination of our Associate Artists programme, the chance to watch the full-length installment of these two brand new shows, which draw on the artists’ personal experiences, telling unique, compelling and powerful stories.
Come along, support new work and share your feedback in this celebration of work in development.

Meet the Artists

Lau Batty
How To Grieve Correctly in a Tuvaluan Household with Other Oceanic References explores unresolved grief that Lau and her community are facing due to the loss of land, family and way of life in Tuvalu. The play is a love letter to the Pasifika women in Lau’s life and also a call for solidarity between all occupied peoples.
“Stunning, ethereal, moving and spiritual.”

Rozelle Gemma
No Woman is an Island is an autobiographical play based on Roz’s time on the TV show The Island with Bear Grylls.
Interweaving island life with other moments in Roz’s life, it touches on topics such as bullying, addiction and identity.
