Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) has announced the appointment of Julie Caplin Grey as Deputy CEO, Finance and Operations. Julie brings 30 years of experience in the cultural sector in the South West and most recently held the role of Deputy CEO & COFO for Hall for Cornwall. She also currently resides as Chair of the Royal Institution of Cornwall, is Vice Chair of PK Porthcurno, a Board member of Trigger Arts and an Area Council Member for Arts Council South West. Prior to her role at Hall for Cornwall, Julie was Head of Culture at Cornwall Council, where she helped to significantly grow the creative and cultural sector in Cornwall and built an excellent reputation with artists, stakeholders, politicians and funders including Arts Council, National Lottery Heritage Fund & Creative UK.
Throughout her career, Julie has raised £60m for cultural projects in Cornwall and helped to deliver several significant capital projects including state-of-the-art Cornish archive centre, Kresen Kernow.
James Mackenzie-Blackman, Chief Executive and Artistic Director at Theatre Royal Plymouth, said: “I’m thrilled Julie is joining the Executive team at TRP. Julie’s deep sector knowledge, commitment to creativity and collaborative, and values-led, leadership will be a huge asset to the leadership of our charity.”

Plymouth is a leading cultural and creative hub with ambitious plans, and I’m looking forward to drawing on my experience of leading similar organisations to help ensure TRP continues its mission of growth and transformation.”
Julie’s appointment reflects TRP’s continued investment to future-proof the organisation and position it for sustainable growth in the years ahead.
