Then New Year, New Idea could be perfect for you!
The Experiment strand of TRP’s Artist Development programme is offering an opportunity for companies and artists to research, develop, and showcase new work.
New Year, New Idea is an initiative for four artists or companies to receive funding, support, and space to work in The Lab at TRP. The Lab is a space dedicated to cultivating creativity and providing a platform for new voices and bold ideas. We have four week-long slots available in Spring 2025.
The offer:
- A £450 contribution towards your costs
- Five consecutive days of R&D space and access to TRP recourses (resources subject to availability)
- Support and mentorship from TRP artistic and producing teams
- The opportunity to present a public performance in The Lab as a part of the Spring 2025 programme. The performance is programmed with a guarantee of £200 plus 80% of the Box Office income retained by the company/artist.

The Lab
Where experiments are held, connections are made, and stories begin
The Lab is an underground 50-seat studio and workshop space. It is a home for the seeds of ideas, rooted in experimentation, and the growth of artists, communities, and their work.
TRP will platform emerging work across two seasons, supported by its Associate Directors and producing team. It will cultivate diverse audiences who will invest in and support the future life of new productions through feedback and conversation.
As well as being a space for performance, The Lab will also be a home for communities and young people to connect through opportunities that support their development and passion, from the ages of 0-100.
R&D
As part of our Experiment strand of the Artist Development programme, we are hosting an exciting opportunity for companies and artists to research, develop, and showcase new work. Our unique programme offers funds and a space dedicated to the seeds of ideas and creativity, providing a platform for new voices and bold performances.
