Directing

Are you a South West-based director looking to sharpen your skills? Are you an artist who wants to learn something new? Join John Haidar, TRP Associate Director, for a masterclass that examines a director’s relationship to classic plays – in pursuit of making them feel new – through a variety of textual and visual approaches, with Hamlet as its primary focus.

John trained at RADA and on the National Theatre Directors’ Course. Having previously worked as associate or assistant director at the Royal Court, the National Theatre and in the West End, he has since directed productions including Hamlet (Bristol Old Vic and Altitude Films/BBC), Afterplay (Coronet Theatre), Othello (Cambridge Arts Theatre), Richard III (Headlong) and Disco Pigs (Trafalgar Studios and Irish Repertory Theatre, New York). He also writes plays and screenplays, including adaptations.

Masterclasses will be delivered by internal staff to share knowledge with the wider artistic community. Designed to break down barriers and impart knowledge artists will need to create, produce, and market theatre.

FUSE, a strand of TRP’s Artist Development work, is proud to offer free opportunities for artists to connect with each other. Including, access to rehearsal space, workshops, and opportunities to engage with the art across our stages.
