A space to explore, share and celebrate what life is like for all sorts of different Jewish people across the UK.

Jewish theatre makers Nick Cassenbaum and Tash Hyman have teamed up with community storytelling company take stock exchange to create a unique nationwide project exploring the expansive diversity of the UK’s Jewish diaspora. Throughout 2023 Nick and Tash travelled up and down the country meeting with 30 different community groups.

From London to Manchester, Bradford to Truro, and Liverpool to Norwich, they’ve been having conversations with Jewish people and hearing stories about what their community means to them. All sorts of people have been involved, from a Queer Talmud study group, to a revived rural community in the south west, to a group of ‘ex-Egyptian’ refugees.

Jewish communities and Jewish people are vastly different, exist in different places, meet in different ways and for different reasons. We know this… you might know this… and if you don’t know this… you will know soon!

In collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Josh Middleton and theatre maker Rachel Mars, we’ve created a live show to share some of the fascinating stories we discovered from communities we met.

Join us to eat, drink and explore the many different sides of Jewishness in the UK today.

Tickets are free, but spaces are limited so please book in advance. Before the performance there will be a FREE community meal*.

Machloket is supported by Royal Court Theatre and Arts Council England.
