Our Theatre Tours offer a unique opportunity to explore one of the UK’s leading regional theatres, revealing the rich history, creativity, and craftsmanship at the heart of everything we do. Across The Lyric auditorium, The Drum, and The Lab, you’ll experience how each performance space has been designed to support different styles of storytelling and audience connection.
As you journey through the building, you’ll go beyond the public spaces and into the working life of the theatre, visiting backstage areas, dressing rooms, and the pathways that connect performers, technicians, and audiences. Along the way, you’ll hear about the evolution of the theatre, past productions, and the people who have shaped it both on and off the stage.
Led by our friendly guides, these tours offer a deeper understanding of theatre as a living, breathing art form.
Tours take place on Friday mornings and last approximately 90 minutes.
Private Group Tours
Experience Theatre Royal Plymouth in a more personal and exclusive way with a private group tour. Ideal for groups of 12 – 20, these tours offer dedicated time to explore the theatre’s spaces, stories, and behind-the-scenes life.
Private tours are available at a flat rate of £360 (for up to 20 people).

· Some areas of the theatre, such as The Lyric stage, may not be available on every tour.
· Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. We regret that we are unable to accommodate children under the age of five on Theatre Tours, this includes babies and children in pushchairs.
· The tour takes part in various areas of the theatre and will require the use of steps in some areas. When booking, please let the Box Office team know if you prefer a step-free route by emailing boxoffice@theatreroyal.com
· Please follow the tour guide’s instructions regarding photography throughout the tour. There may be times when you are not able to take photos.
