Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is once again searching for local youngsters to take part in its pantomime, Cinderella, which this year stars pop icon and stage star Will Young and breakfast TV favourite and Hollywood correspondent Ross King.

TRP is looking for sixteen aspiring children in Primary School Years 3-6 to make up two teams of eight. Open call auditions will be held across two days, with the first round taking place on Sunday 04 October OR Monday 05 October 2026. Following this round, a small group of auditionees will be invited back to meet the production’s choreographer on Sunday 18 October 2026. Youngsters must live within a 20 mile radius of Plymouth and be competent in modern dance.

Auditions will take place at TR2 Production & Learning Centre in Cattedown.

TRP is keen to ensure that there are no financial barriers associated with accessing this opportunity, so travel bursaries are available to support travel expenses required to take part in the show, and all meals on show days will be provided.

TRP Producer Ryan Wilce said: “Our pantomime wouldn’t be the same without our junior ensemble, and it’s so heartening to see so many talented youngsters getting involved. We’re particularly keen to meet young people who have never been in our pantomimes before, and we encourage performers from all backgrounds to come and audition.”

Alongside Will Young as The Fairy Godfather and Ross King as the much-loved Buttons, Cinderella will star musical theatre star Dianne Pilkington as the Wicked Stepmother, Eve Shanu-Wilson as Cinderella, Michael O’Reilly as Prince Charming, Charles Brunton and Stephen Guarino as the Ugly Sisters, and Daniel Norford as Dandini.

Join Cinders as she goes from rags to riches, outwits her very wicked sisters and meets her Prince Charming in this magical festive production.

Packed with all the traditional pantomime ingredients audiences know to expect from TRP, don’t miss the action-packed pantomime that promises to be full of laugh-out-loud comedy, plenty of boos and hisses and lavish sets and costumes.

First Round

When?

• First Round Audition – Sunday 04 October 10:00-12:00 OR Monday 05 October 16:00-18:00
• When you apply you will be allocated a date and time.

Where?

• TR2 Production & Learning Centre, 12 Neptune Park, Plymouth, PL4 0SJ.

Final Audition

The final audition, for those selected, will be Sunday 18 October 10:00-13:00, also at TR2.

Casting requirements

Auditions are open for children who can meet the following requirements:

• You must be in Key Stage 2, (Primary School Years 3-6)
• You must be no taller than 4 feet 8 inches and will be measured, in bare feet, on arrival.
• You must be competent in modern dance and will be taught a routine, as part of your audition, on the day.
• You must be available w/c 23 November 2026 for rehearsals at TR2
• You must be available, every day from 30 November 2026 to 03 January 2026 for technical rehearsals and performances.
• You must live within a 20-mile radius of the Theatre Royal Plymouth
• When you take part in this show all your meals on show days will be provided. Travel bursaries are available to support with any travel expenses that are required to take part in the show
• We are particularly keen to meet young people who have never been involved in our pantomimes before, and we encourage young performers from all backgrounds to come and audition for the pantomime.

Please complete and send your registration form in by Tuesday 29 September 5pm. You will then be given an arrival time for your first-round audition.

License Application Evening

If chosen for the ensemble, all parents and children will need to attend a meeting on Monday 19 October 4pm-6pm to complete all the required paperwork for the performance license and for the Children to be put in their teams.
