A brand new musical based on Tom Fletcher’s best-selling book, The Creakers, will preview at Theatre Royal Plymouth this Friday (25 OCT) ahead of its official world premiere next Monday. The show then plays throughout the October half term until 2 November before transferring to London’s Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall for Christmas.
Based on singer-songwriter and author Tom Fletcher’s story of the same name, The Creakers has been adapted for the stage by award-winning Miranda Larson and directed and choreographed by TRP Associate Director Tom Jackson Greaves. Additional songs have been composed by McFLY’s Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter, co-written with Steve Battelle.
The family friendly brand-new musical has been developed with sustainability at its heart and is part of TRP’s commitment to produce and co-produce more work.
Ahead of the show opening, Tom Jackson Greaves said: “I’ve been working on this show for around six months, but it’s been in the works even longer. It’s based on Tom Fletcher’s beloved book which so many people – particularly young people – adore.
“We’re so excited to now share the production. This is the most exciting point to see how the audience react, the moment when everything comes together.
“The show is very funny and spooky and the characters are extraordinary. There will also be lots of surprises for the audience!”
The Creakers is an Impossible Producing, Smith & Brant Theatricals, Gavin Kalin Productions, Theatre Royal Plymouth and Southbank Centre co-production.
