Schools & Colleges
We offer a wide range of opportunities to schools and colleges for everyone to get involved in theatre and performance. For more information on any of the below projects, send us an email or call 01752 230312.
Playhouse Primary Partnership
Playhouse is an annual partnership programme for local primary schools which combines performance of a newly written school play and a package of workshops, tours and training for teachers.
Playhouse in Plymouth is supported by Womble Bond Dickinson; our Engagement and Learning sponsors.
We offer a variety of workshops for schools, colleges, and universities, which can enhance young people’s transferable skills through drama.
Workshops are 2 hours long and costs start from £150+VAT.
REACTOR! is a brand new devising programme for secondary schools, colleges, and universities where young people create original theatre using ‘sources’ (props, costume, images, etc.). With support from an emerging director at Theatre Royal Plymouth, the company will then perform their work in the Lab.
Our Technical Challenge gives young people an insight into technical theatre (lighting, sound and costume) by giving them an opportunity to get hands on whilst being supported by a Theatre Royal Plymouth technician.
Preshow Insights and Postshow Talks
Alongside our own productions and co-productions we offer opportunities for schools to learn and understand the processes involved in producing professional theatre through preshow insights and postshow talks.
Tours and Explores
Backstage tours of Theatre Royal Plymouth and our Production and Learning centre at TR2, which provide insight to careers in theatre and what really goes on behind the scenes.
Arts Award and Artsmark
At Theatre Royal Plymouth we offer places of education the option to embed Arts Award into projects, tours and explores, and workshops.
We also support schools who are working towards, or currently hold, an Artsmark, with plenty of opportunities available.
Arts Award Centre Number: 44367.
