Richard Chappell Dance returns to Plymouth with AMPLIFY, a new mixed bill celebrating the relationship between dance and music, highlighting the South West’s leading and brightest young artists working today.
AMPLIFY sees Richard Chappell Dance present extracts from two of its acclaimed creations. In Silence Between Waves two dancers perform a flowing and mesmerising duet inspired by Chappell’s own memories and experiences of growing up on the South Devon Coast. While Land Empathy takes inspiration from the climate crisis and aims to deepen our connection to the natural world around us, featuring three dancers, sculptures, and a pulsating score.
Programmed through Richard Chappell Dance’s Supporting Acts initiative, the evening’s programme also shines a light on the choreographic talent in the company with performances of new works by early year choreographers Juan Sanchez Plaza and Cornwall based Aisha Namaani, alongside a showcase of the vibrant local youth dance community with performances from Plymouth’s Rhythm City Dance.
