Lab Company
The Lab Company is for theatre-makers, from the Plymouth area, at the start of their careers. It’s a yearlong training programme with Theatre Royal Plymouth which offers exceptional mentorship and networking opportunities.
Successful applicants will work together as an ensemble and create a piece of theatre that will be programmed into The Lab at TRP.
IdeasLAB
IdeasLAB is Theatre Royal Plymouth’s platform for the sharing and development of new work, taking place once per season for Southwest Based artists/companies. Each artist/company will receive £100.00 upon competition of the project as an acknowledgement of the 15 minute performance on Saturday 25th March, 8pm.
Lab Associates
The Lab Associates programme is a year-long attachment to Theatre Royal Plymouth. Each year we take up to four new Lab Associate companies and artists.
The Theatre Royal Plymouth are on the hunt for new Lab Associates for 2022/23 and applications are now open!
We’re looking for the most vibrant artists and companies in the South West to come and develop a new piece of work with our support.
Practitioner Development Scheme
The Practitioner Development Scheme is a programme of paid training and development opportunities in workshop facilitation. You will be provided the opportunity to work with and be trained by professional practitioners, have access to complimentary or concessionary tickets for performances to inform your practice, and work with a diverse range of young people and communities.
Recruitment usually takes place once a year. Please send us an email for more information about the scheme and the next application date.
Studio
Studio is Theatre Royal Plymouth’s offer of three full days of research and development space. We also offer an optional, invite only sharing at the end of the R&D process. The R&D sharing will be attended by a member of the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s creative team who will be on hand to offer feedback or talk through your idea.
Studio R&D slots are available for all Theatre Royal Plymouth supported artists and for artists/companies living and working in the far South West throughout the year. Studio slots can be booked from 10am-5pm, weekdays at the theatre’s Production and Learning Centre, TR2 and is free of charge.
Since April 2022, we have given out ‘229’ hours of studio space in kind.
Space Race
Space Race is a Theatre Royal Plymouth programme that offers South West artists/companies rehearsal space at TRP’s Production and Learning Centre, TR2.
Space can be booked up to 3 weeks in advance completely free of charge. While we will try our best to accommodate the date and times requested, Space Race dates can be sporadic and are dependent on the availability at the time.
